Sam here. Learn more about me here. But a little explainer before I dive into the first song. I have about 1000 piano songs or song ideas recorded in bits and pieces and fully realized recordings scattered across my iTunes library. I write something new at least once a week, if not more often when I’m bored, and I’ve come to the point where I really want to start sharing my work regularly, and push myself to create finished pieces on a weekly basis. So, I created this, the new samwessels.com. Check back every Tuesday (New Tune Tuesday!) and you’ll have a new song waiting: free to stream, and only a dollar to buy if you want it for yourself. I’ll also post the photograph I used for the album art as a desktop wallpaper ready image under photography, and fill you in on my thoughts of the day, or the origin of the song.
This first song I wrote about a month ago. “Finally it has Arrived.” Mysterious title, isn’t it? It’s a moody, dramatic piece, with a Philip Glass aesthetic and reminds me of a long, forced march through snow and ice.
What has finally arrived, you might ask? Well we moved into a new apartment building in April and were promised fiber internet within a couple weeks. Three months went by. Three months of paying for high speed internet and getting dial up speeds.
So, finally, the fiber internet arrived, and we could once again stream our high definition YouTube, Netflix, and Skin-O-Max.
First world problems, inspiring a touching, beautiful lament like “Finally it has Arrived.” And, finally the inspiration to make a piano blog arrived as well. The contradictions of being an artist.
I hope you enjoy it! If you like this song, and this type of music, check out my album “Fall then Winter” for more like it, and check back here every Tuesday for a new song and a thought or two.
